Being allowed to draw was such a liberation for me. I drew everything! I decided as I had 40 years to catch up, to concentrate on drawing first, then move through the various mediums. I started with pencils. I don’t seem to have any of those first drawings. Then I discovered pastels. What a joy! But they have to be handled carefully AND FRAMED. I drew everything.
Somewhere there is the first pastel landscape I did in 2005. It was pinned on the wall on my notice board, a lengthwise half A1 of Lake George. A friend dropped by on her way back to Melbourne and wouldn’t leave without it. She had it framed! I was astounded that someone so valued what I was doing. Everlasting thanks. And no, I didn’t photo it, I didn’t think to.
